Kara Johnsen

Kara has been practicing as a Physical Therapist for eight years and is excited to put down roots in Summit County, Colorado. A Portland, Oregon native, she earned her undergraduate degree at Oregon State University before completing her Doctorate in Physical Therapy at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon, in 2016.

After several years specializing in orthopedics and industrial injury prevention, Kara embraced the adventure of travel physical therapy. Over the past four years, she has worked in seven different states, seeking out winter ski destinations in Montana, Lake Tahoe, and Colorado, as well as summer spots in Southern California and the Pacific Northwest. Her experience across various settings—including home health, inpatient rehab, and outpatient care—has broadened her skill set and deepened her perspective as a therapist.

Passionate about keeping recreational athletes of all ages active and engaged in life's adventures, Kara brings her expertise to Vail-Summit Physical Therapy. An avid skier, she also enjoys hiking, running, and paddleboarding. She looks forward to this next chapter in her career and becoming part of the Summit County community.
